Why You’ll Fail At Your Food Goals This Year

Hey remember me ? I’m the goals you set either at the end of 2023 or the start of 2024 when you were all like “New Year New me ! “

Like most people I’m sure you have some food goals like eating more fruits and veggies or not drinking soda etc.

It’s now April how’s it going ?

Writing this is a reality check for myself as well so let’s have some real talk and dive into the nitty-gritty of why some of you might just end up failing at those food goals this year.

Let's be real, setting goals like eating salads for every meal might sound fantastic in theory, but it's not sustainable. Are you a cow? No! So …stop making Overambitious Resolutions, start small, make realistic changes, and build from there. We eat at least three meals a day, breakfast lunch and dinner and unless you're extremely disciplined, you're not gonna just wake up and eat balanced meals every meal every day.

Again, take things a step at a time, doing Too Much, Too Soon can really overwhelm you and kill your progress. Start with breakfast, look at what you currently eat, why you eat what you eat... is it convenience, price etc.? Do your research and see what an ideal healthy breakfast is and compare it to what you currently eat. What can you swap that convenient cheese patty for? Maybe some high fiber overnight oats that you can prep the night before to get up and go. After you've perfected breakfast by consistently sticking to it for at least 21 days move on to lunch and then dinner but remember take it one step at a time.

It's come to my attention that some people don't eat for flavor, but they eat for survival, let me know what type of person you are in the comments...I for sure eat for flavor and healthy doesn't have to taste bland and insipid. Don't deprive yourself and Ignore the Flavas you love! Embrace your roots, incorporate local flavors, and turn your meals into something you look forward to.

Life is all about balance so don't go Skipping the Cheat Days. Yes, you heard me right – cheat days are a thing! Denying yourself your favorite indulgences can lead to burnout and overindulgence. I saw a TikTok that shows it all to well... take a look.

Embrace the occasional treat; it's all about balance. You remember when I mentioned healthy swaps. My biggest success story is my love for ice-cream I was able to successfully swap my Sunday cup of ice-cream for a yogurt bowl, made with sugar free Greek yogurt, dark chocolate, blueberries/strawberries and granolas and that fills my ice-cream cravings but sometimes... very rare in comparison to the past I indulge in the real deal!

Water is life, my friends! It's easy to forget to stay hydrated, but trust me, it plays a big role in your food journey. Keep that water bottle close and sip your way to success, don't fail your food goals by Neglecting Hydration.

In the pursuit of achieving your food goals this year, it's crucial to view food not only as a source of pleasure but See Food as Fuel that powers your body. Nourishing yourself with nutrient-dense, whole foods ensures sustained energy levels, improved focus, and overall well-being. Shift your perspective from restriction to empowerment by embracing a balanced, wholesome approach to eating. By understanding food as fuel, you'll not only enhance your physical performance but also establish a sustainable foundation for achieving your health objectives.

So there you have it – a reality check with a side of love. Let's make this year about progress, not perfection. Embrace the journey, savor the flavors, and remember you got this!
