POLL: Would you go to a restaurant with good food and bad customer service or average food and great service? Let me know in the comments!
If you’re Jamaican or see Jamaican Tik Tok videos on your For You Page everybody and their granny talking about TacBar and for the most part the reviews are negative. This goes to show that negativity does spread like wildfire, don’t you agree?
I highly doubt that I’d go to TacBar because the negative comments have stuck in my brain more than whatever positive comments I’ve heard (never say never still because mi nuff sometimes). One of the most commonly heard reviews is that the customer service is bad and I’m the type of person that when I decide to go out and eat I also go for the experience, so customer service plays a big part in my review and in deciding whether I would want to go back. I just refuse to let my hard-earned dollars go down the drain on a bad experience.
On the flip side, in terms of being the modern-day TikToker aesthetics I went to the polar opposite of TacBar some time ago to Evita's and it's been on my list to go back because I received the best service from a restaurant owner there. When news broke of Evita's passing I remembered how I went there and she came out all radiant and greeted/chit-chatted with each tabled customer in the most genuine way. It was the first I experienced this type of service from a manager at a restaurant and is one of the reasons I wanted to go back. She made me as a customer feel seen and appreciated for my patronage. RIP Evita, I hope your passion and memories live on.
I don't know what the statistics are but being a customer who thoroughly appreciates great customer service and will even be willing to pay more for it, I imagine that places with these bad customer service reviews suffer greatly at the hands of them. I also think that a great level of service begins at the head of the business because if employees are clear on the expected standard of service they would perform on that level consistently to maintain their livelihood. For these restaurants, the first order of business should be improving their reputation in the public eye and once they are restored to good standing then they must maintain this new reputation through consistency. If they could manage to maintain this rapport with its customers then all's well that ends well, it would be as if they never had a bad reputation in the first place.
