Remember the girl's trip I told you I went on? We decided to venture out and get some tacos at a spot claiming to have Authentic, Mexican Street Tacos.
In the backyard of someone's home lays Taco Spot- Tacqueria where the I felt like I was transported back to Puerto Plata Dominica Republic. The quaint decor definitely gave you a feel of Mexican street food and Spanish culture. They had Spanish music playing on the wall and the Spanish patrons were firing away at Karaoke, its either it was their home or a home away from home for the Spanish community of Montego Bay.
Everything was quite simple ranging from the decor to the food selections. I had a few tacos Adobada (pork in chili sauce), Chicharron (crispy pork belly) and Chicken. The add Ons were buffet style, and you had the typical taco options from lettuce, salsa, beans, pickled onions and other sauces, we had to pay extra for cheese and guacamole.
Though everything was simple the burst of flavors from the tacos was amazing, definitely authentic to the Spanish flavor points again I was back in Puerto Plata. I could have a million of those tacos !
The drinks however- maybe they should stick to beers and bottled beverages. Everyone's drink was SOUR. Mojitos are one of my favorite drinks and boy I couldnt drink it. My first red flag was the amount of mint, my acid reflux is flaring up just looking at it. The manager gave me a beer to replace it as I was definitely not gonna drink another mix drink.
The Manager's aid to fix my complaint was the only good service I got not that the service was horrible but you could tell the servers were stretched thin and thus the service was underwhelming.
We must have ordered a million churros to go because the freshly made treat was SOOO warm and yummy- my friends agreed it taste like cornmeal porridge but who doesn't love a warm bowl of porridge but in a fried stick version.
All in all, I'll be going back because it's the best Tacos I've had in Jamaica and the Gonzalez in me loves a good taco! Hopefully the staff and bartender can get it together, let me know what you think would you try them?
